A fitness brand’s name works hard: on the website, in the classes and on the kit people wear.
Andy Murray of Lifestyle Fitness came to The Trademark Helpline in 2014 to put that name on a firm footing.
Two UK applications
We filed first for the LifestyleFitness.co.uk logo on 5 June 2014, then for the words LIFESTYLE FITNESS on 20 November 2014. Both cover the same two classes:
- Class 25: clothing, footwear and headgear
- Class 41: fitness and personal training, exercise classes, fitness facilities and related education
Covering clothing as well as fitness services means the name is protected on branded kit, not only on the training itself.
The logo was registered on 3 October 2014, and the word mark on 20 February 2015.
Into Europe
In July 2015 the protection was extended beyond the UK, with an EU trademark application for LIFESTYLE FITNESS in the same two classes. It was registered on 27 November 2015.
What Andy said
“The customer service and efficiency provided by the staff at the Trademark Helpline is second to none. We have been kept up-to-date throughout the application process and have also been offered superb advice moving forward.”

Update, January 2018: a second brand
In October 2017 Lifestyle Fitness came back to us to protect another name, LSF PT. We filed both the word and a logo version, again in classes 25 and 41, and both were registered on 12 January 2018.
Update, November 2024: ten years on
A UK trademark lasts ten years and then needs renewing. Both of the 2014 UK registrations have since been renewed, and the register shows them running to 2034.
Is your brand covered where you trade?
Start with a UK trademark registration that covers what you actually sell, including merchandise. If you trade abroad, see international trademark registration. And when your ten years are nearly up, our trademark renewals service keeps the protection in place.
