WESTTEK spend their days keeping other businesses safe. They’re a managed IT and cybersecurity firm working with companies across Hertfordshire and London, which means their clients trust them with the keys to everything: systems, data, the lot. That trust is the whole business. It’s why the name on the door matters so much, and why WESTTEK don’t just run one brand, they run two. Alongside WESTTEK itself, they take their cybersecurity offering to market as “Security Everywhere.” So the moment someone else starts using that name, they’re not borrowing a word. They’re borrowing the trust WESTTEK spent years earning.
So when it happened, we were glad they’d put the right protection in place first.
Here’s how it played out.
First, we made the names theirs to defend.
You can’t stop anyone misusing your brand until you’ve got the legal right to do it. We handled WESTTEK’s UK trademark registration, including their “Security Everywhere” mark, turning names they were actively trading under into assets they could actually enforce.
Then we kept watch, so they didn’t have to.
Registration is the start, not the finish. We put WESTTEK on our active monitoring service, scanning for anyone registering similar names, filing lookalike trademarks, or standing up domains and listings built to trade on their reputation.
The monitoring did its job.
It flagged unauthorised use of WESTTEK’s “Security Everywhere” brand out in the wild, on third party platforms. On its own, easy to miss. Left alone, exactly the sort of thing that quietly muddies a brand and pulls customers somewhere they never meant to go. And for a firm whose entire promise is security, a brand being misused is not a good look to leave sitting there.
And then came the part nobody expected to be easy.
Getting the references removed meant going up against parties who don’t always respond to a polite request, and there was a fair bit of doubt about whether we’d get anywhere at all. We did. The references came down. That’s the thing people underestimate about a properly registered, properly enforced trademark: it carries real weight, whoever’s on the other side. Most parties comply once they understand the position. No drawn out fight, no fuss.
WESTTEK got on with the work, both brands intact, market position secure, the trust they’d built still firmly theirs.
Here’s why we’re telling you this.
WESTTEK are experts at protecting other people. They hold the certifications, they monitor their clients’ systems around the clock, they know exactly what good protection looks like. And even they needed someone watching their own brands, because registration was only ever step one. The real protection was the monitoring that caught the problem and the enforcement that ended it. If your business runs on its name, and most do, the same is true for you.
If someone’s already trading on your brand, or you’d simply rather catch it before they start, get in touch and we’ll show you how our trademark services can help.

Questions about this
How did WESTTEK protect its Security Everywhere brand?
In three steps. First, its UK trademarks were registered, including the Security Everywhere mark, turning names it already traded under into assets it could enforce. Next, it was placed on active monitoring, scanning for similar names, lookalike trademark filings, domains and listings. When monitoring flagged unauthorised use of Security Everywhere on third-party platforms, the registration gave the enforcement weight, and the references were removed without a drawn-out fight.
Why does a business that runs two brands need to protect both?
Because each name carries trust in its own right. WESTTEK trades under its own name and takes its cybersecurity offering to market as Security Everywhere. Anyone using either name would be borrowing the reputation WESTTEK has spent years earning, not just a word. Registering both means each brand can be defended on its own, whichever one is being misused.
What can other businesses learn from the WESTTEK case?
That registration is only step one. WESTTEK are experts in protecting other businesses, yet they still needed someone watching their own brands. The real protection came from monitoring that caught the misuse and enforcement that ended it. Most parties comply once they understand a properly registered trademark is behind the request, so any business that runs on its name benefits from having both registration and monitoring in place.
