Dracorp: protecting a name for the long game

Some brands stay with a founder for years, even when the business around them changes.

Brad Mitri came to The Trademark Helpline in 2015 to protect the Dracorp logo. He wanted the name and the look of the brand to be his, in the UK, before the business grew.

Filing the Dracorp logo

We filed a UK application for the Dracorp logo on 13 March 2015, in two classes:

  • Class 9: software and downloadable digital content
  • Class 42: software and technology services

The application passed examination and publication without any objection, and the Dracorp logo was registered on 5 June 2015. Brad also used our monitoring service while the business got up and running, so he would hear early if anyone filed something too close.

What Brad said

“The service levels of The Trademark Helpline have massively exceeded my expectations. I have been very impressed and I would have no hesitation in recommending The Trademark Helpline.”

Update, July 2026: a new brand, a new registration

A UK trademark lasts ten years and then needs renewing. The 2015 registration was not renewed, and it came off the register in 2025.

When Brad got back in touch in March 2026, Dracorp had become an online gaming organisation and community. He wanted to be sure he could control how the name and logo were used from then on, so we started with a Trademark Clearance Audit. The classes from 2015 no longer fitted what the brand did, and the audit showed which ones it needed now.

We filed a new application on 26 March 2026 in five classes: 9 (game software and digital content), 25 (clothing and merchandise), 28 (toys, games and collectables), 41 (entertainment, online games and competitions) and 42 (software and online platforms for gaming).

After publication, another business told us it was thinking of opposing. An opposition can take months and cost both sides a lot. Their concern was about medical and healthcare goods, a field Dracorp has nothing to do with, so we agreed wording that makes that clear and filed it at the IPO. They dropped their objection, and the DRACORP logo was registered on 24 July 2026, running until 2036.

Is your registration still the right fit?

If your business has changed since you first registered, your trademark may not cover what you do today. Our Trademark Clearance Audit checks the register, your classes and the risks before you file.
