So when it happened, we were glad they’d put the right protection in place first.

Here’s how it played out.

First, we made the names theirs to defend.

You can’t stop anyone misusing your brand until you’ve got the legal right to do it. We handled WESTTEK’s UK trademark registration, including their “Security Everywhere” mark, turning names they were actively trading under into assets they could actually enforce.

Then we kept watch, so they didn’t have to.

Registration is the start, not the finish. We put WESTTEK on our active monitoring service, scanning for anyone registering similar names, filing lookalike trademarks, or standing up domains and listings built to trade on their reputation.

The monitoring did its job.

It flagged unauthorised use of WESTTEK’s “Security Everywhere” brand out in the wild, on third party platforms. On its own, easy to miss. Left alone, exactly the sort of thing that quietly muddies a brand and pulls customers somewhere they never meant to go. And for a firm whose entire promise is security, a brand being misused is not a good look to leave sitting there.

And then came the part nobody expected to be easy.

Getting the references removed meant going up against parties who don’t always respond to a polite request, and there was a fair bit of doubt about whether we’d get anywhere at all. We did. The references came down. That’s the thing people underestimate about a properly registered, properly enforced trademark: it carries real weight, whoever’s on the other side. Most parties comply once they understand the position. No drawn out fight, no fuss.

WESTTEK got on with the work, both brands intact, market position secure, the trust they’d built still firmly theirs.
